On Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 3.25 PM on Rai 3 and RaiPlay, starts the initiative “Cinema e Luce”, a journey through the unique, impressive sites in Lazio, sets of unforgettable movies or birthplaces of great actors, revealing the fundamental, often invisible role of cinema in the region’s cultural identity. Promoted and supported by the Departments of Tourism, Environment and Sport of the Regione Lazio, the three-episode broadcast narrates anectodes occurred behind-the-scenes footage, as well as the history of the movie locations, towns, and natural landscapes witnessing the importance of the Italian cinema.
Most movie scenes were shooted in Sperlonga, Sabaudia, Itri, Terracina, Sermoneta, Norma, the Gardens of Ninfa, Fossanova Abbey, and Circeo in the province of Latina; Vierbo, Bomarzo, Vitorchiano, Civita di Bagnoregio, Farnese, Tuscania, Caprarola, and Sutri, in the province of Viterbo; Fontana Liri, Anagni, Arpino, Casamari Abbey, Sora, Castro dei Volsci, Vallecorsa, and Isola del Liri in the province of Frosinone, and in Castel San Pietro in the City of Rome.
Each episode represents an opportunity to showcase a local heritage of sites, memories, and beauties and to attract a vast audience of cinephiles and and visitors, who will be able to discover historic and contemporary film sets and to meet directors, set designers, and locals.
