Along the Tiber Valley, between the Via Flaminia and the Via Tiberina, Riano is noted for its arch and 16th century fountain.

At a distance of 30 km from Rome, this village, perched on a high spur of tufa rock, is situated in the Park of Veio and is dominated by the ancient Ruspoli Castle. You will discover Roman and medieval remains as well as the 18th-century Church of the Immaculate Conception, with its splendid 15th century portal. It is also possible to visit the remains of the Vaccareccia Castle between Sette Monti and Mount Palombo.

The body of Giacomo Matteotti was found in the scrubland of Quartarella on 16 August 1924, an event commemorated in the town with a monument devoted to the national hero.

Panonta is a traditional dish of Central Italy, which is celebrated by the appreciative locals with a festival at the beginning of August – it consists of bread impregnated with the cooking oil of hog jowl, filled with baccalà [dried salted cod]. In December the Festival of Polenta and Pangiallo [Saffron Cake] should on no account be missed.
