The Municipal Rose Garden of Rome reopens as every year with free admission on April 21, on the Birth of the Eternal City.
Nestled on the slopes of the Aventine Hill, opposite the remains of the Palatine and above the Circus Maximus, the Rose Garden of Rome is one of the most beautiful sites in Rome and Lazio, where to admire the blossoming of Spring. It houses an extraordinary botanical collection of over 1,100 varieties of roses from all over the world: the Far East, South Africa, Old Europe New Zealand, and the Americas.
The Rose Garden includes two main areas. The large one displays ancient and modern species of original, magnificent roses. The smaller area hosts the roses participating in the “Premio Roma”, the prestigious international competition of new roses, which takes place every year, usually on the third Saturday of May. Starting from Sunday, May 19, 2024, this area, dedicated to new rose varieties, will also be open to the public.
The entrance to the Rose Garden is free. Opening times: 8.30am – 7.30pm every day including holidays until the first week of June, unless extended.
