Located about 60 km from Rome, in the area of Ciociaria renowned for its vineyards, is Acuto, an ancient fiefdom of the bishop of Anagni located at 750 metres above sea level on the top of a hill which overlooks the vast panorama of the Sacco Valley and the Lepini Mountains.

Thanks to its isolated position, the historical centre has preserved its purely medieval structure and is enhanced by the magnificent portals that decorate the entrance to the houses.

Acuto is one of the municipalities that belongs to the Cesanese Wine Route, inasmuch as part of its territory produces the wine Cesanese del Piglio DOCG, the first wine in Lazio to receive this designation.

An event not to be missed is a tasting in the town’s cellars especially during the Cesanese Grape Festival which takes place in Piglio and involves all the towns that produce this excellent wine.

Another interesting event worth remembering is Musica al Castello, a programme of symphonic, choral and chamber music organized every year at the beautiful castle with cylindrical towers located in the town’s centre.
