The twinning agreement between Barbarano Romano and Petra in Jordan will be signed by 2024.
This significant event will encourage tourist and cultural exchanges between the two villages, which share several architectural and cultural similarities. Their thousand-year histories, detectable on the rocky spurs, honour their past civilizations.
The partnership and pact of cooperation between the ancient village in the Tuscia Viterbese and the town of Petra, already included in the UNESCO Heritage List, is carried out by the citizen of Barbarano Romano, Antonio (Tony) Parente, expert in the Middle East and acquainted to the Jordanian residents.
