Capranica Prenestina, among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy

Capranica Prenestina has been the 26th burg from Lazio, to be included in the List of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.

The charming historic centre hosts important buildings, such as the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena and Palazzo Barberini, home to the “Museo Civico Naturalistico dei Monti Prenestini. But the most precious artistic treasures are the small hamlet of Guadagnolo, the highest inhabited centre in Lazio with its 1218 metres above sea level, and the Sanctuary of Mentorella.

Also noteworthy are the extraordinary beauty of the natural landscapes, like the “Monumento Naturale del Castagneto Prenestino“. Not to be missed, the ancient small houses, where the “Mosciarelle” (small sweet chestnuts), where placed to dry,  and the ascent of Mount Guadagnolo, from where to enjoy a wonderful view of the Prenestini Mountains.
