In ancient times Casaprota belonged to the Abbey of Farfa. Its pastoral landscape is what makes it so picturesque and a great place for people who love hiking. Ruins from the Roman era and the Middle ages, with their hidden art treasures, will be the setting of itineraries that can be followed on foot, by mountain bike and on horseback. Amidst the luxuriant crops, the olive trees are the great protagonists of the Sabina landscape. The specific characteristics of this area make the local olive oil one of the best in Italy. As per tradition, the new olive oil is celebrated on the last weekend of January and enjoyed on a warm slice of roasted bread.

There is more than one reasons for visiting Casaprota, which is not far from Rome. Only to mention a few, it is set in an unspoilt natural environment with colourful hills and you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to the delectable local dishes.

The townʼs historic centre is defined by its stone houses and is home to interesting historic sites, such as Palazzo Filippi and the Church of San Domenico.

The small hamlet of Collelungo is worth visiting as well. Take a stroll along its narrow medieval streets and simply take in its tranquil atmosphere.
The sweeping views from the Sanctuary of Santa Maria are stunning. You can see the valley of the rivers Montenero and Farfa, the Sabini Mountain chain, the Soratte Mountain, the Tiber Valley and even as far as Lake Bracciano. A truly charming landscape dotted with ancient olive and oak trees.
