The site most clicked on search engines by foreign tourists in the area of the Castelli Romani is Castel Gandolfo, according to a research carried out by Valica Spa, a leading digital tourism company.
The research shows that the tourists, especially from Germany, France and Spain, prefer a visit to the beautiful Castel Gandolfo, the former summer residence of the Popes overlooking the lake of the same name.
Of course, they also dream of other towns in the Castelli Romani, like Frascati, with its interesting historic centre and the typical fraschette, Nemi , with its colourful views and delicious strawberries, Ariccia with the sumptuous Palazzo Chigi and the succulent Porchetta, Rocca di Papa, with its lush panorama that gets lost in sight, and the more densely populated and livelier Velletri and Grottaferrata. Also noteworthy are the historic towns of Colonna, Genzano, Monte Porzio e Monte Compatri, Ciampino and Rocca Priora.
The results of the research were presented during the event “Gli Stati generali del Turismo dei Castelli Romani”, organized by the DMO Castelli Romani, an association which includes 17 towns of the Castelli Romani, and other private members, including tour operators, hospitality operators , service providers and tour guides.
