From March 1 to 10, 2024, the celebrations for the 750th anniversary of the death of S. Tommaso D’Aquino, which occurred in the Abbey of Fossanova on March 7, 1274, will take place in Priverno.
The programme of the celebrations in honour of the Saint will include several events, with doors open to art and history and guided tours organized by the Archaeological Museums of Priverno in the footsteps of San Tommaso and to the town treasures.
From March 1 to 7, at the Galleria dei Portici Paolo Di Pietro, the beautiful works by Armando Giordani about the life of the Saint will be on display, curated by the Pro Loco of Priverno.
Trekking routes and walks throughout art and nature will also be organized.
On Sunday, March 3, the “Associazione dei Sentieri Nord Sud” and on Wednesday, March 6, the “Associazione il Gruppo dei Dodici”, will accompany visitors through the last journey of San Tommaso D’Aquino, from the Castle of Maenza to the Abbey of Fossanova.
The celebrations also include two solemn Masses in honour of the Patron Saint, the first on Wednesday, March 6 in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Annunziata, followed by the traditional Procession, the second on Thursday March 7 in the Abbey of Fossanova, presided by Cardinale Pietro Parolin, Segretario di Stato della Santa Sede.
