A photographic collection about Civita di Bagnoregio, the dying city, will be on display at the Consolato Generale d’Italia in New York from March 4 until May 15, 2024.
The images portray Civita, as beautiful as never seen before, fascinating and poetic, lightly suspended over the Valle dei Calanchi, in the province of Viterbo.
The exhibition, entitled ‘Fra Nuvole e Cielo. Gente di Civita’, is a collection of 40 black and white photographs taken by the American photographer Brian Stanton. The artist, fascinated by the overwhelming beauty of the village perched on a tuff spur, carried out a three year project to capture the charm of nature and the serene daily life of its inhabitants.
The result is a fascinating tale of a timeless place and of a community which preserves every day the traditions of the past.
