Cragg’s sculptures at the Terme di Diocleziano

Until May 4, 2025, the splendid Terme di Diocleziano in Rome will host the exhibition “Infinite forme e bellissime”, by the English artist Tony Cragg, one of the most famous exponents of contemporary sculpture.

Eighteen exceptional, suggestive sculptures, created over the last twenty years, will be displayed in the archaeological spaces of the monumental complex of Diocleziano. Their bright colours and sinuous, dynamic forms refer to the vegetable and mineral worlds. Majestic sea waves, geometric plants, perfect shells, human bodies and everyday objects, each sculpture evokes the infinite evolution and creativity of nature. The exhibition “Infinite forme e bellissime” is inspired by the words of the renowned scientist Charles Darwin, “There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved”. Even the material of the sculptures has no limits:  from bronze, to wood, travertine, fiberglass and steel. Form and matter perfectly match in the magnificent scenario of the centuries-old thermal complex in Rome.
