“Icone di Speranza” (Icons of Hope), an exhibition of icons from the eastern countries, will take place from December 16, 2024 to February 16, 2025, in the baroque church of Sant’Agnese in Agone in Piazza Navona in Rome. The exhibit, set up inside the Borromini sacristy, includes eighteen Byzantine icons from the Vatican Museums, depicting characters and scenes from the life of Jesus, Mary and the Saints.
The works, dating between the fifth and twentieth century, were created with oil, tempera, or mixed techniques on wood and enriched with enamels and precious stones.
In the spirit of the Holy Year 2025, “Icone di speranza” aims to convey peace and brotherhood to the visitors.
Free admission every day from 9 am to 7 pm.
