Immersive exhibition about Via Appia Antica

From June 7 until December 1, 2024, the Parco Archeologico dell’Appia Antica is promoting the immersive exhibition “Via Appia. La strada che ci ha insegnato a viaggiare”, an innovative, fascinating narration about the ancient Appian Way, candidate as a World Heritage Site.

Through this exciting exhibition, you will discover and realize the uniqueness of the Appian Way, the first authentic public road, an impressive ancient and, at the same time, very modern work of engineering, crossing the peninsula and projecting Rome towards the Mediterranean and the East.

An immersive room, within the Complesso di Capo di Bove, at the fourth mile of the Appia Antica 222, leads the visitors, along 540 kilometres, among the restorers at work in the Villa dei Quintili, the guests of a wedding in the square of Terracina, the lively schoolchildren chasing each other among the columns of Minturno, and even further, through three other regions, up to the sea.

The exhibition is promoted by the Parco Archeologico dell’Appia Antica and the Ministry of Culture and curated by Lorenza Campanella and Simone Quilici. Photographs and videos by Andrea Frazzetta.
