In 2024, ten Lazio coasts have been awarded the Blue Flag once again. The beaches of Gaeta, Sperlonga, Latina Mare, Sabaudia, San Felice Circeo, Fondi, Terracina, Minturno, Anzio and the lake beach of Trevignano Romano have been re-elected.
The award ceremony is a very important event, much awaited by beach keepers and local communities, in view of the bathing season. As usual, various organizations conferred the Prize, along with FEE Italia, the Foundation for Environmental Education. In addition to the quality of water, sustainability criteria have been considered: purification plants, correct and careful collection of hazardous waste, accessibility to the litoral, safety, beach and street furniture, sustainable mobility, environmental education, enhancement of naturalistic areas, accommodation facilities, public healthcare services, environmental certification and initiatives proposed by local authorities for the summer season.
