“Linea Verde” along the Route of San Benedetto

The new episode of the RAI TV programme, “Linea Verde Sentieri”, “In the Footsteps of San Benedetto”, will concern the history of the territories crossed by one of the Cammini del Lazio, increasingly successful among walkers.

The programme, presented by Giulia Capocchi and Lino Zani, will be broadcasted on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 12.20 p.m. on Rai Uno, and will retrace various stages of the Route, from Leonessa to the Benedictine Hermitages of Vicovaro and the Sacro Speco in Subiaco, where the Abate Don Maurizio will welcome the television crew.

The itinerary will continue towards the impressive Lake of San Benedetto, in the Parco Naturale Regionale dei Monti Simbruini, and then descend to Jenne, and meet la Signora Rita at the ancient mill, who will show you how to prepare n’dremappi, a local speciality.

After a stop in Trevi nel Lazio, at a refreshment point for pilgrims, the team of “Linea Verde Sentieri” will reach Ciociaria and stop in Collepardo, by the Pozzo D’Antullo, an extraordinary karst phenomenon in terms of size and shape, and at the Certosa di Trisulti, from 1200, recognized as a National Monument in 1879.

A visit to Isola del Liri will follow, where the crew will capture the beauty of its waterfall in the historic centre, almost thirty metres high. Then, they will move to the Church of San Tommaso d’Aquino in Roccasecca, on the slopes of Mount Asprano and its Castle.

The journey will end at the Abbey of Montecassino, where Abate Don Luca Falica will welcome the RAI team.
