Luce is the official mascot of the Jubilee 2025, that will be inaugurated on December 24, 2024 with a Mass by Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Square and the opening of the Holy Door.
She is a smiling young girl, representing the theme of the current Holy Year “The Pilgrims of Hope”. The blue haired cute mascot is equipped with the essential pilgrims’ accessories: a hooded raincoat, muddy boots, a Rosary with a clearly visible cross around her neck, and the Bordone, the typical pilgrim staff.
The graphic style is inspired by Japanese Manga comics with wide eyes reflecting two shells, the symbol of the St. James Way of Saint. The creation of this character is a clear sign of the Vatican’s intention to address an audience of young people, encouraging their predisposition to a mutual love for a travel of hope and welcome.
The mascot was designed by Simone Legno, the founder of the Tokidoki brand, a choice immediately appreciated by the social media. In a short time, countless animations referred to little Luce have appeared on the major social platforms, especially on TikTok.
