The splendid Garden of Ninfa, described by the New York Times as one of the most beautiful and romantic gardens in the world, will be reopening on Saturday, April 6th. Centuries-old plants and trees from various continents, fleshy fruits, dazzlingly-coloured flowers, the blue of lavender, the many varieties of roses and gently-flowing streams that meet to form pleasant cascades are all features of the spectacle awaiting visitors. A spectacle made up of sounds, scents and the rustling of leaves that can be perceived even with closed eyes…

For full enjoyment of this spectacle, the “Ninfa nelle Stagioni” (Ninfa across the Seasons) initiative has been launched: a single ticket for visiting the Garden in all four seasons (with a limited number of participants and dates) that allows visitors to capture the beauty of the colours and the scents of the garden, amidst the ruins of the no-longer-existing city of Ninfa, in all their many facets. An initiative dedicated, above all, to lovers of plants and flowers, but also to those who want to enjoy a close sight of the fascinating changes in nature that mark the passage of time.

Giardino di Ninfa

Since last October, the Garden has been a Literary Park, named after Marguerite Chapin, the wife of Roffredo Caetani. One of the many souls of this magnificent place is the passion for literature that Marguerite interpreted by surrounding herself with many important writers and poets of the twentieth century, who drew inspiration for many of their works here. The Literary Park offers 6 monthly appointments for a stroll in the Garden accompanied by professional actors narrating its charm through the words of poets and writers who in the past were fascinated by this place and put its magic into words.

Giardino di Ninfa

But the idea of travelling does not stop with the wonders of Ninfa, because just a few kilometres from the garden there is still an entire Lazio to discover.

Going further north, you reach the beautiful Cori, a medieval village known for its Palio della Madonna del Soccorso, as well as for the Palio di S. Oliva. Here you can also stop to taste a typical dish, ham cooked in white wine, prepared following an ancient process of preparation and oven cooking.

Do not miss the ancient Norba, the “city of stone” founded in the period of the Volscian invasions. In the archaeological area, enclosed by imposing polygonal walls, you will see remains of roads, terraces, temples and public and private buildings.

Continuing in a southerly direction, you will reach Sermoneta, the most intact and perhaps most charming medieval town among the municipalities of the Lepini Mountains. Mandatory stops are the magnificent 13th-century Castello Caetani and the Valvisciolo Abbey, one of the very first examples of Gothic-Cistercian architecture in Italy.

Once past Latina, lovers of nature and the sea can enjoy the beauty of the Circeo National Park, along the coastline stretching from Torre Astura to Torre Paola, and the Riviera of Ulysses running from S. Felice Circeo to Gaeta.
