The village of Paganico Sabino stretches from Lake Turano up to its highest point, which offers a stunning panoramic view of the extraordinary water body and the “Riserva Naturale Monte Navegna e Monte Cervia”.

Paganico Sabino overlooking Lake Turano
The main road of Paganico Sabina is equipped with panels explaining the history and traditions of the place. Once reached the upper district, we will be able to enjoy the panorama from the so-called “Belvedere della Rocca”.

The platform suspended over the Obito Gorge
The terrace consists of a metal platform suspended over the Obito Gorge, that reminds of the eagle nest perched on the ridge below. From here, the view is incredible but not recommended to those who suffer from vertigo.

The Panoramic tracks in the “Riserva Naturale Monte Navegna e Monte Cervia”
Among the naturalistic beauties, all lovers of outdoor activities will appreciate an adventurous walk throughout the Obito Gorges, an extraordinary ravine carved out by the waters running through the ditch of the same name. Other places of interest are the numerous caves used in the past by the shepherds, and the Rencricchittu Rocks in the area San Giorgio, a rocky spur, approximately eleven metres high.
Not to be missed are the ruins of the ancient mill Antica Mola and the Fonte della Signora Spring, as well as other healing water springs.

The “Pietra Scritta” in Paganico Sabino Ph @ paganicosabino.org
Just outside the village of Paganico Sabino, downstream from the Strada Provinciale Turanense, stands a big cube-shaped monolith called the “Pietra Scritta”, the Tomb of the Muttini Family, dating back to the second half of the first century BC. Around this imposing boulder, probably fallen from Mount Cervia, numerous legends have been woven over the centuries. Important events are celebrated in Paganico Sabino throughout the year: the Castagnata in early November, dedicated to the typical chestnuts, and the First of May Calendimaggio, a traditional peasant festival that welcomes the arrival of the Summer. On the same day, the locals also organize the Sagra dei Vertuti, a delicious pulse and cereal soup, flavoured with wild thyme leaves and seasoned with the prestigious olive oil from Sabina.
