Situated in the Upper Sabina region, Poggio Moiano sits on a hill at 500 metres above the sea level and within the Lucretili Mountains Regional Park, and area abounding with monuments of Roman and medieval origin.

Worth visiting is the small rural church of San Martino (10th c.). It features an interesting facade with a lovely rose window made with the local stone deriving from the Roman period.

Another noteworthy historic site is the mausoleum known as the Grotta dei Massacci (2nd c. BC) at Osteria Nuova.

Many events are organized throughout the year at Poggio Moiano, such as the festival of the Sacred Heart, with its Infiorata, held during the last week of June. On this occasion the village is transformed into a multicoloured wonderland, with the entire community involved in creating 70 floral decorations over the paving of the streets.

June is also the month of the bruschetta festival, organized to celebrate the delectable union of the local extra-virgin olive oil and masterfully roasted slices of bread.

The most notable religious event is the highly-evocative Easter Friday Procession, which takes place in the evening.
