From September 23 to 30, many sports enthusiasts from Lazio will participate to the Settimana Europea dello Sport, an event promoted by the European Commission to encourage physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and the psychophysical wellness of the European Community citizens.
In the “Parco del Foro Italico” in Rome, the Villaggio BeActive will be set up, where the participants will be able to practice at least forty sports disciplines for free, supported by qualified technicians and animators. Furthermore, several initiatives for vulnerable categories will be carried out.
During the same week, Latina will host the “Villaggio Europeo dello Sport”. The Pontine capital was chosen by mutual agreement by the municipalities of Sabaudia, Terracina, Fondi, Maenza, Priverno, Pontinia, San Felice Circeo and Formia, which, together with Latina, have been awarded the title of “European Community of Sport 2024”. The rich calendar of activities also includes the Priverno “Giornata dello Sport”, which will be held on Sunday, September 22 in the historical centre. More than thirty local sporting clubs will compete in the following disciplines: karate, boxing, taekwondo, jujitsu, cycling, racewalk, swimming, dance, volleyball, football, padel, basketball, fishing, and sport hunting. In addition, starting from Friday, September 20, under the Portici Comunali Paolo di Pietro, it will be possible to visit the three-day exhibition “Lo sport di Priverno negli anni”, which will display historical documents, photographs, and written anecdotes and memories.
The town of Fondi, also presenting an intense carnet of initiatives, aims, not only at the sport promotion, but also at enhancing the beauty of its lake, mountains, hiking trails, and Castle. The first scheduled competition, the “Cronoscalata Cima Pantani”, will be held on Saturday, September 21, followed by a trekking excursion to the Church of Santa Maria Romana on Sunday 22. On Thursday 26, it will be possible to attend, on request, a free postural gym class under the stars on the terrace of the Caetani Castle and, on Sunday 29, to participate at a night bicycle ride and kayak excursion in the area of Raddotto, near Lake Fondi.
