Stimigliano, the gateway to Sabina, sits on the top of a hill facing the northern banks of the Tiber River and Mount Soratte.

The Town Hall of Stimigliano
The historic centre consists of a single main street, Corso Umberto, and beautiful perpendicular alleys, the whole forming a sort of Christmas tree. The large road leads to the small, charming piazza Roma, with its elegant Town Hall.

The romantic view on the Tiber Valley from the Terrace of piazza Roma
Here, from a huge frame, it is possible to admire the wonderful landscapes of Mount Soratte and the Tiber Valley.

The Palazzo Orsini in Stimigliano
On piazza Vittorio Emanuele, stands Palazzo Orsini, a building of considerable historical and artistic value, with its fourteenth century tower. We enter the Palace through an ancient ashlar portal, just beyond the arch that leads from the square into the historic centre.

The Church of Santi Cosma and Damiano
The three-naved Church of Santi Cosma and Damiano, of Roman origins, preserves rich decorations in marble and a canvas depicting a “Mocked Christ” from the Caravaggio School.
The enchanting town of Stimigliano owes its charm to the particular care of its small community; flowers, plants and coloured paintings enrich the alleys and the balconies in the heart of the village.

The Lovers’ Path in Stimigliano
Stimigliano has earned the nickname of “Borgo dell’Amore”, being the perfect destination for all lovers. Here it is possible to enjoy a pleasant walk along a path enclosed by narrow walls, bearing romantic quotes and, on old cellar doors, the various declinations of the verb “to love”.

The small square with the “Love Bench”
The path leads to a small square hosting the “Love Bench”, bench, where couples can exchange tender kisses away from prying eyes.

One of the many doors along the Alley of Traditions and Flavours
But the village also boasts the Vicolo delle tradizioni e dei sapori, a delightful alley flanked by old painted doors dedicated to the gastronomic traditions of Stimigliano and Sabina. Among these, worth tasting are the Picchiarelli, a local pasta dish, and several bakery products and cakes, that are also served during a festival held every October.
