Anzio is a very ancient seaside town. Its origins are as remote as the legend of Ulysses’ journeys.

The coast of Anzio is disseminated with beaches and beach facilities with coffee bars, kiosks and restaurants. Its mild climate makes it perfect for relaxing on its shores lapped by crystal-clear blue waters. It is also the ideal location for practising a host of sports: cycling, tennis, horseback riding, golf, fishing and obviously swimming.

A highlight of the archaeological area of Nero’s Imperial Villa, situated on a sheer cliff overlooking the sea, is the beach of Nero’s Grottos. Golden sand, cliffs and shallow crystal-clear water are what make this beach so attractive. Snorkelling will allow you to see ancient submerged ruins and a lush marine flora.

Tor Caldara is the beach of the nature reserve by the same name. It is a lovely wide and long beach of soft golden sand with dunes. Underwater sulphurous springs can be found in its transparent blue waters. It is also well-known as the habitat of rare animal species and for its ancient archaeological finds.

The Lido dei Gigli is a beach of golden sand and dunes as high as 20 metres. Fringed by Mediterranean brush and pine woods, its crystal-clear waters very gradually become deeper as you leave the shore.
