The “IV Meeting Città di Formia – Memorial Pietro Mennea” will start on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 3:00 pm, at the “Bruno Zauli Olympic Training Centre” in Formia. The event, also valid as “XIV Trofeo degli Aurunci”, was established in memory of Pietro Mennea, the greatest undisputed Italian sprinter, who partly owed his athletic career to the town of Formia.
The competition, which will see the participation of different categories of athletes, from the very young to the absolute ones, will consolidate Formia as the City of Sport, hosting, in its “Olympic Training Centre” (CPO), many national and international teams.
On Friday, June 6, a Golden Gala will inaugurate the meeting at the “Stadio Olimpico” in Rome, where the traditional Palio dei Comuni will also be celebrated , the relay race reserved to middle school athletes, included twelve from Formia.
