The Parco Nazionale del Circeo is not only rich in lakes, dunes and mountains, but also includes characteristic villages and medieval castles. The Park is one of the most coveted tourist destinations in Lazio and belongs to the “MaB” (Man and the Biosphere) programme, started by UNESCO in the seventies to enhance the relationship between man and the environment and to reduce biodiversity loss through research and capacity building. The requirements of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve consist of sustainable policies in the resource management by the member states and local communities, concerning all terrestrial, marine, and coastal ecosystems.

The Parco del Circeo is one of the sites in which the very concept of the “UNESCO Man and Biosphere Programme” was created, with the proclamation in 1977 of the “Foresta Demaniale del Circeo” Biosphere Reserve, the Selva di Circe. In 2013, following periodic reviews of the MaB Reserves, the Circeo Reserve extended to its current borders, including Sabaudia, San Felice Circeo, and part of Latina and Terracina.

Enjoy this fantastic experience in Lazio, where integration between man and environment has been fully achieved!

The “Parco Nazionale del Circeo” should be visited during the warm season, when it is possible to bathe in the sea. We can, however, experience a breath- taking adventure all year!
