The villages of Lazio are the most searched online in Italy

The Lazio villages are the most searched online in Italy, the first four in the ranking being Civita di Bagnoregio, Ronciglione, Sperlonga and Subiaco.

The research Borghi italiani online 2024, carried out by “Telepass” on the Magazine “Moveo”, reveals a growing interest in the Lazio burgs by both Italian and foreign tourists, who are looking for authentic experiences in less known, charming ancient corners, immersed in nature, to be explored on foot or by bicycle, and where to enjoy an excellent cuisine.

According to the survey, Civita di Bagnoregio, ranking third, is increasing in popularity. Known as “The dying city”, the small village perched on a white tuff hill, only reachable through a long pedestrian bridge, seems to float in the middle of the valley like an island. The charming medieval burg of Ronciglione, ranking sixth in the list, has extraordinarily increased its visibility by winning the popular television contest “Il Borgo dei Borghi” in 2022. At the seventh place, we find Sperlonga, the jewel of the Ulysse’s Riviera, with its mythological atmosphere and white houses nestled upon a narrow spur overlooking the sea. Finally, Subiaco, which, although occupying the tenth place, conquered the primacy of the most searched Italian villages online in the months of December and January. Not only was it appreciated for its history and places of worship, but also for the surrounding nature of Monte Livata.
