Despite its recent creation, this Road has the burden and the honour of being the longest and most varied in Italy. The newest wine route in Lazio, in fact, starts from the Lepini Mountains and boasts an itinerary rich in excellent oenological products, gastronomic specialties and an endless tourist offer. The city of Cori, which has always been characterized by the presence of prestigious wineries, is the starting point of this wine road running through the Pontine territory, giving both producers and enthusiasts the opportunity to get to know many of Lazio’s other products.
The road starts from Cori – point of reference for the entire road – and wine country par excellence, always greatly appreciated for the style of its many Renaissance palaces, for its tasty prosciutto and for its enthralling Palio. The city, moreover, is the main venue of the Latium Festival, which every year includes all the continents, joyfully hosting every facet of international folklore.
The itinerary continues westwards through Cisterna di Latina, the undisputed homeland of kiwis, up to two of the most important planned cities, Aprilia and the provincial capital, Latina, where you will not be able to resist the excellent buffalo meat or the harmony of the Trebbiano di Aprilia wine. The length of the route allows you to enter a territory still “untouched” at the tourist level, which invites visitors not only to discover the excellent food and wine of the province of Latina, but also to discover a new territory, less touristy than other, more-frequented ones, but equally rich in craftsmanship, nature, art and fun. The wine road, in fact, contributes to a type of low-cost tourism which allows an accessible holiday but still offers all the comforts related to well-being and leisure.
Further south, heading towards the sea, other stops on this road offer an even milder and more appreciated climate thanks to the well-known and growing maritime tourism that includes the vast territory stretching from Sabaudia – which boasts the production in Lazio of buffalo mozzarella – and San Felice Circeo, passing from the dunes to the hills, stopping at the Parco degli Aurunci, and then arriving in the art city of Terracina and perhaps relaxing on the beaches of Sperlonga to enjoy a delicious sea bream accompanied by a glass of fine Moscato dell’Agro Pontino wine.
