On occasion of the Jubilee Year 2025, Rome will host the sixteenth edition of the World Tourism Event, dedicated to the promotion of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The free initiative will take place on September 25 and 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. within the monumental complex of Santo Spirito in Sassia, just a few steps from St. Peter’s Basilica, in the heart of the City. The location, considered one of the oldest hospitals in Europe, was specifically created to accommodate pilgrims heading to the Tomb of the Apostle Peter, and to provide shelter and assistance to those in need, the sick, and the abandoned children.
Lazio will participate at the event with a space dedicated to its vast UNESCO World Heritage Site. Special attention will be paid to the Via Appia – Regina Viarum, officially included in the UNESCO List in 2024, and to the application process of the Via Francigena, an important symbol of slow and sustainable tourism.
During the event, the Mario Bagnara Award for Sustainable Tourism will be presented, a prize which recognizes the innovation, the promotion of UNESCO values, and the heritage protection through the use of technologies.
The exhibition will include a rich programme of workshops, B2B meetings, and in-depth debates open to operators and visitors.
