Water is back in the Baths of Caracalla

After 1,800 years, water is back in the Baths of Caracalla, thanks to a large pool of extraordinary beauty, reconstructed in the garden facing the monumental area, a 42 x 32 metres body of water, on which the majestic architecture of Caracalla is reflected. Water-and-nightlight games and mist recreate the suggestion of the heated, damp environment, so much appreciated by the ancient Romans, making visitors from all over the world experience this magnificent atmosphere.

In the centre of the pool, we find a 200 square metre stage for music and dance performances. On Saturday, April 13, 2024 with the Roman premiere of the Rhapsody in Blue, choreographed by Ater Balletto, the centenary of George Gershwin‘s music sheet will be celebrated.

The intervention, carried out thanks to the Soprintendenza Speciale di Roma, was an extraordinary initiative implementing the role of the Baths of Caracalla, not only an archaeological site but also a promotion centre of art and culture.
