Skiing in Lazio

From Campocatino to Campo Staffi via Selvarotonda, Campo Stelle, Terminillo and Monte Livata. These are some of the most beautiful ski resorts of Lazio.

If you are looking for beautiful areas to pass a few pleasant days, an intense weekend or a wonderful week filled with winter sports, here’s some advice!

In the municipality of Guarcino in the province of Frosinone there is one of the first ski areas to have been created in the central-southern Apennines, Campocatino. Slopes of varying difficulties, a beautiful circular trail for cross-country skiing over a distance of 15 kilometres, a modern snow park and a baby park equipped for children.

Also in the province of Frosinone, in the municipality of Filettino, there is the ski resort of Campo Staffi. Here everyone will have a chance to enjoy the slopes of varying difficulties that will meet the needs of beginners and more experienced skiers. The slopes go from 1500 m to the 2000 m of the summit. Campostaffi

Leaving the province of Frosinone we move into the heart of Italy just a few kilometres from Leonessa in the province of Rieti, on the northern slopes of Mount Terminillo where there is the Campo Stella ski area. 14 kilometres of slopes for skiing and snowboarding and two circular trails of 3 and 6 kilometres for lovers of cross-country skiing.

The second ski area in the province of Rieti is located in the municipality of Cittareale and it is that of Selvarotonda, which can be found on the slopes of Monte San Venanzio. With 11 kilometres of slopes and an excellent grassy base, it is one of the first areas to open in winter.

Then there is what everyone calls the “Mountain of Rome”, Monte Terminillo, in the province of Rieti. With more than 40 kilometres of trails, 4 of them with artificial snow, and excellent ski lifts, it is one of the largest ski area in central and southern Italy.

But there is more. Moving to the province of Rome there is Monte Livata, not far from Subiaco. The area with its 6 slopes is the ideal place for those who want to take their first steps on skis and it is also a popular destination for winter hiking and snowshoeing.
