In the historic centre, steep and narrow cobblestone alleys create a magical atmosphere, while the traditional aromas from the bakeries and cellars, lead to a small square dominated by the majestic Duomo dell’Assunta. Its façade in Neoclassical style features two lateral bell towers, and the interiors house various artistic and historical works, such as the baptismal font from 1490 and the ciborium from the early sixteenth century.

Not to be missed is a stroll along the cobbled Via Sacra, once used by leaders and emperors on their way to the Temple of Jupiter Latiaris. The ancient Roman road reaches an altitude of approximately 1,000 metres, from where it is possible to enjoy an extraordinary panorama of both Lakes Albano and Nemi.

Just outside the village stands the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Tufo, built in 1490 in memory of a miraculous event. According to legend, a 15,000 kg boulder broke away from Monte Cavo and was about to strike a traveller. Terrified, the man prayed the Virgin Mary, and the stone magically stopped its fall. In gratitude, he had a small church built on the spot.
