The village offers exciting views and a wide choice of activities, especially outdoor. The food and wine tradition is famous mainly thanks to the cheese Pecorino di Picinisco DOP and the excellent Maturano wine.

The historic centre still preserves its fortified medieval structure, with narrow streets, small squares and houses close to each other, elegant buildings, stone portals and balconies. The heart of the town is the panoramic Piazza Capocci in which we can find a century-old plane tree. There is no shortage of ancient churches, such as San Lorenzo, patron saint of Picinisco, and the church of Santa Maria Assunta from 1100, among the oldest in the diocese.

Picinisco is a starting point for excursions within the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, in which the village is included. We can take excursions to the artificial lake of Grotta Campanaro and to Fonte Scopella, with its curative waters especially for liver disorders.  Very popular destinations are, for pilgrimages,  the Sanctuary of the Black Madonna of Canneto. and for ski lovers, the skiing resorts of Prati di Mezzo.

House Lawrence

Not to be missed a stop at Casa Lawrence, in the Cervi district, where the famous English writer David Herbert Lawrence and his wife Frieda lived in 1919.

Picinisco is an Orange Flag village, a prestigious recognition awarded by the Italian Touring Club for the quality of tourism-environmental development.
