Located on a hill among vineyards and olive groves of delicate beauty, Ripi is the ideal destination for a pleasant and relaxing holiday, 10 km from Frosinone on Via Casilina.
The town has existed since Roman times, as archaeological finds discovered in the district of San Silvestro bear witness. Subsequently the town developed around the castle, was destroyed several times and passed from the Ceccano, to the Borgias, and finally the Colonna.
Although some traces of the castle walls are still visible, the historic centre preserves only the configuration and overall layout of the ancient Castrum, with the two ancient access gates, Porta Santa Croce, towards the ancient Via Latina and Porta Sant’Angelo, facing Veroli.
The village still preserves its ancient gates, Palazzo Galloni, once Colonna, and Palazzo Candia.
Worth visiting is the Museum of Energy, equipped with multimedia installations and interactive models. Its inception was inspired by the presence of some oil wells, something unusual for central Italy, still in operation today
A traditional and beloved festival is the Palio di San Giorgio, April 23: the day is filled with traditional games such as the wheelbarrow race, log cutting, sack racing, the “arciola” competition, the tug of war and the pignata, loved by all ages. A great time is guaranteed.
