On the hills of Alta Sabina stands Rocca Sinibalda, 552 meters above sea level, between the green woods and the valley where the Turano River flows. Mentioned for the first time in a document from 1084, linked to the Lombard Sinibaldo, the village later became part of the possessions of the imperial Abbey of Farfa, and then of various Roman families.

In 1526 it was donated by the Pope to Cardinal Alessandro Cesarini, who transformed the castle, based on a design by Baldassarre Peruzzi, around 1530, into a fortress. Very austere on the outside, with an eagle-shaped plan and two towers, it is an elegant Renaissance residence, with apartments and frescoed halls.

Not to be missed the walk along the road of the village up to the Castle, the visit to the Castle, the “Agapito Miniucchi” Museum, with the collection of the artist’s sculptural works, and the Museum of Peasant and Artisan Traditions, in the nearby hamlet of Posticciola.

The castle hides a 7 m deep icehouse, which guaranteed snow and ice for the summer months and a swimming pool, small but in a wonderful position, also used in the 1960s by Peggy Guggenheim and the Living Theatre. We also find a small amphitheatre at the end of the cellars, a micro scenic space of great beauty.

Among the typical dishes we find potato gnocchi with pumpkin flowers, fettuccine with mushrooms, tasty sheep roast, bruschetta with truffles and cheese. The territory produces an excellent Trebbiano white wine and the red or rosé Sangiovese.
