Anagni and Tarquinia are the two towns in Lazio among the ten finalists selected by a panel of experts on January 20, 2026, for the prestigious title of Italian Capital of Culture 2028.
Among the twenty-five candidate projects, “Hernica Saxa”, which historically and culturally connects the leading town of Anagni to Alatri, Ferentino, and Veroli, and “La Cultura è Volo”, involving twelve municipalities in southern Etruria, with Tarquina as the leading town, have been chosen. This recognition would represent a great success for the provinces of Frosinone and Viterbo, which have much to tell on the subject of cultural development and revitalization.
Two public hearings will be held inside the Spadolini Hall of the Ministry of Culture on Thursday, February 26, 2026 for Anagni and Friday, February 27, 2026 for Tarquinia. Each candidate will have the opportunity to explain their project in detail and answer the questions from the jury. The hearings will last a maximum of sixty minutes, thirty for the presentation of the project and thirty for the Q&A session with the jury. As required by the call for applications, they will be broadcasted on streaming on the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Culture.
