During the Milan-Cortina Winter Games, starting on February 6, 2026, it will be possible to explore the Olympic Tomb of the Tarquinia Necropolis through a virtual tour inside Casa Italia at the Triennale di Milano. Virtual reality viewers will allow visitors from all over the world, including supporters of the Italian Olympic team, to admire the reconstruction of the paintings inside the tomb and experience the great Etruscan civilization which dates back over 2,500 years.
The burial chamber owes its name to the scenes painted on the interior walls, depicting athletic competitions and chariot races. These works focus on equestrian games and competitions in the Etruscan society, highlighting the symbolic and social value of competitive spirit and individual prestige.
The innovative digital project was curated by Skylab Studios and developed in collaboration with PACT – Archaeological Park of Cerveteri and Tarquinia. The Tomb of the Olympics is part of one of the most important pictorial complexes of the Etruscan world, recognized, along with the Necropolis of Cerveteri, as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
