The Vitruvian Festival is back in Formia with a format of events and educational activities dedicated to Marco Vitruvio Pollione, who was born here during the imperial age. He was the author of the treatise “De Architectura”, which has come down intact to us and represents today the theoretical foundation of Western architecture.
The Festival, held from June to September 2025, will offer a rich programme of meetings, exhibitions, and educational activities.
The inauguration will take place on Tuesday, June 3 at 10:30 am in the Room “E. Ribaud” of the Town Hall, in the presence of municipal authorities, students, and all the associations involved in the project. On the same day, the Tourist Board (IAT) on the ground floor will welcome the exhibition “Mensura et Imago: proporzione, armonia e immaginazione tra passato e presente”, curated by the students of the “Istituto Comprensivo Dante Alighieri” of Formia.
The event will continue with a rich calendar of workshops, conferences and guided tours of the historical sites linked to Vitruvius’ life. The aim of the Festival is to encourage young generations to discover the historical and cultural heritage of Formia, and to enhance the town’s identity and attractiveness.
