Trevignano Romano is a picturesque village along the Northern shore of Lake Bracciano, awarded with the F.E.E Blue Flag and the Orange Flag recognitions by the Italian Touring Club.

The town stands on a cliff of leucitic lava, at the end of a small gulf, the secondary crater of an ancient volcano. It preserves a small medieval village and boasts a beautiful tree-lined lakefront of about three kilometres packed with nice restaurants.

Trevignano Romano lies within the Bracciano Martignano Park, the perfect place to enjoy the silence, the chirping birds, the rustling leaves, the flowing of the water, the sound of footsteps on the undergrowth, and our own breathing. Established in 1999, the Parco Naturale Regionale del complesso lacuale di Bracciano – Martignano stretches for almost 17,000 hectares between Tuscia and Rome.

The wetland Le Pantane and Lagusiello, a refuge for aquatic birds, lie among the volcanic lakes of Bracciano and Martignano. The constant rocking of boats and canoes keep company to the birdwatchers, ready to spot specimens of cormorant, mallard and coot.

Trevignano Romano is probably the former Etruscan town of Sabate, whose only trace is an extensive Necropolis. The Museo Civico Etrusco Romano, in the Town Hall, displays very rich goods from two graves discovered in the 1960s in the Olivetello Necropolis, the tomb Annesi Piacentini and the tomb dei Flabelli.

cacio fiore

An illustrious ancestor of the Pecorino Romano, the Cacio Fiore is a cheese prepared with raw sheep milk and rennet from the artichoke flower of the Roman countryside, hence the name of this Presidio Slow Food produced in Rome, Anguillara Sabazia and Trevignano Romano since 2005.

At the end of September, the Trevignano Film Fest takes place, it is a themed film festival born in 2012 from the collaboration of Cinema Palma with a group of journalists. The movies, whose theme is chosen every year, are pre-selected and not competing. Therefore, everyone is the winner!
