On the Teverina Wine Route, Bomarzo stands on one of the rocky spurs originating from the lava flows of the volcanies of the Cimini mountains.

Scorcio di Bomarzo
The use of peperino, the magmatic rock typical of the village, reached its peak in the sixteenth-century Parco dei Mostri, a fantastic park with statues that inspires fear and wonder in every visitor.

The statue of the god Neptune at the Monster Park
Wanted by Prince Pier Vicino Orsini and planned by the Renaissance architect Pirro Ligorio, the astonishing Sacred Forest inspired Salvador Dalì and, in more recent times, a board game.
Completely immersed in the greenery, the park amazes and confuses the visitor with its optical illusions, gigantic monsters and mythological animals, inscriptions on the works by Ariosto and Petrarca and hidden enigmas still unsolved.

Etruscan pyramid
On a terrace overlooking the Valle del Fosso Castello the mysterious Etruscan Pyramid has been discovered, a stone approximately 16 meters high and leading to an altar, on which steps have been carved.

Bomarzo
Not to be missed in the village are Palazzo Orsini, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta and the cathedral which houses the relics of Sant’Anselmo di Bomarzo.
Among the typical food and wine products, we can taste Sant’Anselmo biscuit. It is said that in the 5th century. A.D. the anise-flavoured donut was called “St. Anselmo’s bread”. After becoming bishop of the town, Anselmo, today is the Patron Saint of Bomarzo and is celebrated on April 24 and 25 with the Palio of Sant’Anselmo and the Biscuit Festival, a sweet bread he produced for the poor who traveled the Via Francigena.
Bomarzo is an Orange Flag village, a prestigious quality mark awarded by the Italian Touring Club for tourism-environmental development.
