The Town of Tarquinia is candidate as the Italian Capital of Culture 2028 and will be the leader of all the Municipalities associated with the “Destination Management Organization Etruskey”: Allumiere, Barbarano Romano, Blera, Canale Monterano, Cerveteri, Civitavecchia, Ladispoli, Montalto Di Castro, Monte Romano, Santa Marinella, Tolfa.
The candidacy was announced by all the Mayors, who agreed to a memorandum of understanding, with the aim of enhancing the entire cultural, archaeological and tourist system of Southern Etruria. The “Parco Archeologico di Cerveteri e Tarquinia” and the “Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Villa Giulia” will be the main attractions supporting the candidacy.
By July 3, the City of Tarquinia will deliver to the Ministry of Culture the expression of interest for the award as “The Italian Capital of Culture 2028”, while, by September 25, it will provide the candidacy dossier and attached documents. The project includes itineraries, events, and educational, digital initiatives, that will offer locals and visitors the opportunity to discover landscape, memory, community and future.
