After going on board on the motorship, the ferry or the jetfoil, find the perfect seat to enjoy the best view of the open sea, the white trails left by the boats, seagulls and maybe dolphins, while you are kissed by the sun and the wind ruffles your hair. You are finally on holiday!

After going on board on the motorship, the ferry or the jetfoil, find the perfect seat to enjoy the best view of the open sea, the white trails left by the boats, seagulls and maybe dolphins, while you are kissed by the sun and the wind ruffles your hair. You are finally on holiday!

The trip by jetfoil is short and, as you approach the land, you perceive the unmistakable scent of the island, with its deepest maritime soul and the pastel colours of the houses.

To cover the eight kilometres net of roads on the island, you can choose fast transportation, such as scooters, electric bikes or simple bicycles, which can be rented upon arrival. But you can also travel by taxi and bus on a panoramic tour up to the top of the town.

Ponza – Coast

Colourful, picturesque boats coming and going will take you to the beaches and then pick you up again in the afternoon. You can also experience tours on small boats with a guide who will explain you the history of Ponza and tell you legends about the rocks with evocative names and the colourful seabed that enchant underwater excursionists.

Among the unique and extraordinary seabed to be explored, do not miss Palmarola. You can experience the thrill of setting foot on a desert island and being enchanted by the crystal-clear waters and the wild nature.

Folco Quilici considered Palmarola one of the most beautiful lands on the planet emerging from the sea.

Narrow alleys run throughout the Island of Ponza. Around the port, they are animated by the tourists coming and going into the small handicraft shops with souvenirs and clothes with hand-painted patterns, in search of a unique souvenir to pack in their suitcase.

ISOLA DI PONZA - LT FELLONE

Spaghetti with “fellone” crab

The cuisine has the flavour of the island, characterized mainly by daily catch. We can taste spaghetti with clams, marinated anchovies, pasta with Fellone crab, lobster linguine, fish soup and the typical “acqua pazza”, once the only fishermen’s meal. And then we can savour the poor cuisine, with typical local legumes, lentils, grass peas and broad beans, used in tasty soups.

In the evening the island changes. The venues are open until late at night and, the morning after, everything starts again with the irresistible call of the sun and the sea.

Ponza

Not to be missed, the Pilate Caves, in the Southern area of the port, below the Ponza cemetery. It is an underground and underwater archaeological complex named after an ancient legend about Pontius Pilate. The caves, perfectly excavated and carved even below the sea level, were probably used for breeding moray eels, considered sacred by the Romans.

seabed

And then the seabed of Ponza, astonishing, a true paradise for lovers of diving and underwater photography. Walls in the shade, covered with gorgonian and red algae, Posidonia meadows, boulders and rocks covered with a varied marine flora, offer the visitor, together with the fish fauna, an unparalleled spectacle!

Coves of Ponza

And finally, we explore the wonderful coves, reachable mainly by boat. Cala Feola is the only sandy beach on the island and one of the most beautiful. In a unique landscape, protected by the Hills of Capo Bosco and the Montagna della Corte, you can experience a visit to this Nature Kingdom also with your family. You will fall in love with its crystal-clear waters and seabed. Until the 1940s, this cove was inhabited by monk seals, who came there to spend the winter.
