Seven sites in Lazio as good as a kiss on Valentine’s day

“A long while amid the noises of coming and going, of drinking and oath and smutty jest, There we two, content, happy in being together, speaking little, perhaps not a word”.

So wrote Walt Whitman. A wonderful poem, but where to be alone on Valentine’s Day in Lazio? These are seven sites as good as a kiss just for you and your love!

Let us start from Rome. Among the many attractions related to love, we find   the Trevi Fountain, where the Lovers’ Fountain is hidden. It is said that Roman girls met their boyfriends here the evening before leaving for military service. As an oath of loyalty, they drank from the same glass, which had to be new, and then broke it. It is a magical source! Nowadays, you can drink from the spouts together and eternal love is guaranteed!

Too much crowd? The Arco dei Banchi is right for you! It is located near St. Peter’s Basilica, in a passage that connects it to via Del Banco di Santo Spirito. Incredible to say, here there was the most important bank in Rome in the Renaissance. It was therefore not a romantic place but the atmosphere is magical! A small aedicula with the Madonna shines against a blue, starry sky and an inscription recalls the flood occurred in 1277, the oldest in the history of Rome.

Haven’t you kissed yet? We can move to Isola del Liri in Ciociaria. You cannot mistake, you are obliged to kiss! Actually, it is an island, as its name says, a strip of land between the two arms of the Liri River. The Boncompagni Viscogliosi castle divides the River into two branches that flow into two waterfalls in the historic centre: the Cascata Grande and the Cascata del Valcatoio. The unstoppable, powerful water flows for 27 metres while chasing the light. How can you avoid a smack in such a poetic place?

What is more romantic than a kiss “in the blue painted blue”? So you can say to your partner “#BaciamiaSperlonga!”. Use this hashtag on social media for your Valentine’s Day shots from the most panoramic spots in Sperlonga. The “Obligation to kiss” road signs are many, on the viewpoint of Monte Circeo , Grotta di Tiberio , and Ridosso, in Piazza Fontana and in Torre Truglia. Can you resist this temptation to kiss on the Ulysses Riviera?

The mythological love between Diana and Virbio still hovers over the forest sacred to Diana, Nemus Dianae, which gives its name to the lake. On its banks stand the ruins of a temple dedicated to the goddess of hunting who is reflected in the blue waters.

And, if you have already succeeded in “faje di de si” (making her say yes), Labro is the perfect site for a pre-wedding serenade. You are in Sabina, in the City of Stone, under one of the most beautiful skies in Italy! Let yourself be enveloped in the dreamy atmosphere of this tiny village overlooking Lake Piediluco.

Our work here is done! All that remains is Love. Happy Saint Valentine’s Day!
