According to the national sportsmanship index drafted every year by “Il Sole 24 Ore”, athletics in Rieti ranks seventh, and basketball thirteenth in the Italian Panorama. These extraordinary results were achieved by numerous national and international athletes, many of whom chose Rieti to train in view of the major competitions.

A remarkable example is Mattia Furlani, who, thanks to his daily trainings with his coaches at the Stadio Raul Guidobaldi in Rieti, has achieved a remarkable success, so much that he won the golden medal in the long jump at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships 2025.

Also noteworthy is the victory of the Studentesca Reatina Andrea Milardi team, which won the DNA U20 Clash of the Clubs in Leiria, Portugal, a competition awarding the best youth athletics club in Europe. This result bodes well for the upcoming U18 European Championships, which will be held at the Guidobaldi Stadium in Rieti from July 16 to 19, 2026.

In addition to the prestigious palmarès collected by the legendary Rieti basketball team, the Reatine athletes also achieved outstanding recognitions in other sports.

This was the case of the recent Wako European Kickboxing Championship, which saw the participation of approximately 3,000 athletes from all over the continent. Among the stars, Valeria D’Angeli from Rieti, Fiumata (RI), a hamlet of Petrella Salto, who won the bronze medal wearing the Italian national team jersey.
